bonus personal thoughts.

So there is a re-model happening where I live right now. They have been at it for months. Usually it has been 1-3 people working who are I assume preparing things for the future building. Today there are something like 7-10 people from many different companies here. There is salty language and one of them just got super pissed off at what I am assuming is an idiot worker. The worker was apparently using a large table saw when the yelling happened. He was not however using a table.
"Hey! Hey Goddammit quit using that saw! Stop! (dude stops) You got one kid but if you keep using that saw like that you might not have a chance at another!"

"________"-a-day

This post makes 9 consecutive daily posts. This one, as you may notice is NOT the hulk. This one is a character I wrote down sometime in november named "Rick Berger" who lives in a sort of restaurant/adventure soap opera world. He has friends and enemies.
For now I will just try to keep posting a daily something. Hulk is still the strongest one there is but I think drawing him all the time is wearing on me. Fear not, I am positive many of the days to come will hold hulk drawings, i can't stop it.
I like this guy!

Hulk-a-day_7of7 1 week record setter!

The record has just been set. I have gone one whole week drawing and posting at least one hulk-a-day. I am going to try and keep going but i have a few other projects that need some time invested in them. Here is another greeny!

Hulk-a-day-2of7

It's a new day so here goes this one. Green hulk water color.

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

So if you take a look at a few blog posts ago I make silly hints about doing "hulk-a-day" or "Clint-a-day" challenges where I post a daily drawing. Well last week I actually did do a hulk-a-day but I was unable to scan them because my (expletive deleted) Canon printer/scanner refused to let me scan until I purchased more ink...me was frustrated about that. Needless to say i got ink today and well, here we are. Get ready for the real "Hulk-a-day" to begin.  I'll start things off with a red hulk watercolor! RULK!

Duckstrip

Here is a quick-strip of a silly idea i had. My girl Becky Steele colored it for me!

Polar update.

Hello, good morning! Plenty of things in the works right now. Possible job opportunities, The flash short is progressing slowly but nicely and is now pared down to the tentative title, "Polar" (brevity is IN this year). I am also building a new look and feel for my portfolio website, www.clintdeadmond.com. There isn't anything really awful about it now but it does lack pizazz! The new design is completely different, it has way more personality and is much more intuitive and visually interesting. In other words I am actually designing it instead of (against my will) fulfilling a graduation requirement. I could go on rambling about philosophies of living and how the moment right now is where everything ever happens, ever. Instead how about a screen shot from "Polar"? Yeah? You got it!

NEw Flash short on the way and not the one you are thinking of.

Hi. I am just going to start by saying that REcipes for an Unhealthy lifestyle ep. 2 is dead for now. It has been shelved and filed away. It's too long. I cursed my self again by writing it too long and trying to dive too deep into a wider story that has nothing to do with what i am trying to get at. It's probably a lot like a conversation with me.(huh-huh.) Anyway on to the good news!

The past week or so I have been working on a new short film. It will be done in flash. I have an animatic that i seriously am love for. I am having a good time working on it.

A couple years ago I was trying make a flash animated documentary about these dudes who train to fist fight polar bears for thrills and whatever. I have taken that premise and changed things up a bit. It's more to the point now and I will be posting stuff about it for the next couple weeks most likely.

Deadmond Does It!

I drew this quick strip a couple weeks ago and my killer girlfriend Becky Steele colored it. I love what she did.

The big board.

Here is a quick snapshot of my storyboards all posted up!

General Update 7-13-11

Zeppellin was right, working from 7 to 11 every night kinda makes life a drag. Although I am not working those exact hours, mine are similar and yes it screws with your day to day activity. I can't sleep normal hours and I get more (and better quality) work done during crazy late hours such as right now. The daylight hours feel strange, not the way I like it. I am working to improve this.
NOW on to the sketching! Here is a page from my sketchbook that has (you guessed it...) NO meaning/explanation or future purpose, except for the honk squeesh top left, he's making a comeback. These are the playful doodles of an idle late night brain.
In other news; "Recipes for an Unhealthy Lifestyle" episode 2 is in pre-production! I am currently working on the third draft of storyboards and I am proud to say that it will blow episode one out of the water! I have a big ol cork-board loaded up with around 70 drawings, I'll get a photo of it posted here very soon, (it's cool to see my work up on the wall like this). Anyway enjoy the weird animals below :)

Isaac Asimov is cool

Everything Asimov just popped into my head out of nowhere and gave me a bunch of ideas. I want to make an ongoing weekly comic strip really bad but finding a subject i think i can stay interested in is not easy. Isaac Asimov must have been working nearly all the time. He wrote so many books, not just Science fiction either (syfy? I wish they had kept it sci-fi, barf noise. I have some ideas mixing around in my brain bucket about this and I think it could be fun. Anyway here is a portrait of the man done in photoshoppe. Enjoy till next time!

All Blue!

This painting actually takes place before the red sword. This was done at Ai Portland a couple monday nights ago. My instructor Za Vue finally got me to listen to her and attempt to break my paintings down with the three tone formula/technique. So far I am liking what I am learning.

All Red painting.

Here is a painting in acrylic on wood panel. I am trying paintings with only one color for a while, I am trying to steer my skills out of a self imposed rough patch, so to speak. Breaking down a painting into only three light tones makes things much simpler and more manageable, not only on the canvas and palette but especially in your head when you start thinking of "ways to fix this" Instead of just focusing on experiencing the moment/feeling or energy of the subject.

Nanner dudes comic

Here is a comic I sat down and made up as I went the other day. It was really fun, make any sense you can out of it. Silly stuff but I really would like to keep practicing these.

Who wants pie? Piping hot!

Hey hows it going? I just now remembered that i have not posted a few things that I meant to. These are two separate 16x20 oil paintings i did for a fellow employee. She told me that she wanted to give them as a gift to her boyfriend who would soon be coming home from prison. I don't have a problem telling you this because I asked to her face if she thought these two guns maybe wouldn't really be the most appropriate gift /slash/message? She laughed and reassured me there would be no consequences for a crappy painting.

How about two reds for two greens?

These guys were pretty mad that I hadn't posted them yet.

Hulk Paintings

What a busy week. Holy crap. I am pretty tired but all week I have been trying to buy myself some time to paint for more than a few minutes at a time. IT has been frustratingly difficult finding this time. I can't remember how things became so busy. I forced some free time onto myself and painted some hulk drawings. I haven't mentioned it in a while but I still love the hulk. I just get a kick out of him. So here are some things that are interesting to look at!

5 day doodle compilation.

So this is basically a couple sketchbook pages over a few days. God knows what any of it means but here it is...a post. I am working on a couple new personal projects right now. The problem is I don't have too much free time to work on them (working on that as well).
The plan for the rest of 2011 is a couple comics, also 1-2 new flash cartoons, one of those being completely new and the other is "Recipes for an Unhealthy Lifestyle" episode 2.
For now It's looking like my blog will be traveling at about 1-2 blogs per week or BpW. Good things have happened and I can see more on the way.

Cartoon Time!

I just uploaded a semi final edit of my new cartoon to Vimeo.com
If you have two minutes check this out!
I would provide a link but the video is still going through the converting process on Vimeos website, I am going to sleep now but I will grab that Link tomorrow and post it up!

Here is the part where I vent a lil. This cartoon has taken me Seven months to make, the longest time I have ever spent working on one thing. I hope to work with others next time. I am planning on making every future cartoon using flash very simple. It took me three years to realize that flash isn't made for the kind of animation I am trying to get out of it. Me stubborn. It's a type of animation that I couldn't exactly give a name to but I think I hint at it well enough.
Me post link tomorrow,

HALS.

Frans Hals study. The cartoon, by the way is getting really close to being ready for viewing, I just need to find out how to fix the problem Adobe Premiere keeps giving me with a certain dead spot in the timeline. Premiere apparently thinks that certain files are longer than I have made them or simply do not exist when clearly there they are in the project library folder. Anyway I had some fun making this digital study of a Frans Hals painting. Have a good monday dudes and dudettes.

A very busy week.

I got a chance to work on the cartoon a few hours this afternoon! I have a feeling this past week was a long one for most people, it just felt that way. I have not mentioned it yet but I recently landed an internship at "DeepSky studios". This is a 12 week deal, they are teaching me Toonboom animate pro with the possibility of being hired! My brain was brimming and exhausted. I forgot how much energy it takes to learn something new!
Thankfully the body can make itself adjust and get comfortable with the increased activity within a pretty short amount of time...coffee lends a hand as well.
I have been forcing myself to paint in oil at least a few times a week, images to come soon.

Progress.

Hello, For the past six months I have been working on a new cartoon. It is a cartoon that I like working on enough to make it a bit higher quality than my last one. Better animation, More interesting Transitions, Flames, recipes, anger, pie-in-the-face gags, a tombstone (not the pizza) Yes she really has it all. I really learned a lot over them six months but no one is interested in what I learned, lets get to the pie in the face jokes already! Well I'm sorry but they are not done yet. This plane ( figurative) is probably two weekends away from taking off, so close though! I worked hard on this one and I hope it will be entertaining. Lets see if I update in two weeks with the actual video!!...???

HEy Hey it a new post!

What up everyone out there in Radioland...here is a little something I made up because I missed my Girlfriend a whole bunch while she was away for Christmas break.
Hulk couldn't help but imagine her as a badass viking babe.
